Greenville, NC - The Regent Royals men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Pirate Invitational hosted by Eastern Carolina University this past Friday, October 15th. The course was located on a beautiful golf course surrounding Lake Kristi, with soft, grassy surfaces and undulating hills that allowed for a deceptively fast course. The meet featured some of the best runners in the country from schools such as NC State, American University, South Carolina, and East Carolina University.
Men's Cross-country standouts-
Junior Calvin Perkins ran his top 8k race of the season with a time of 28:28.
Junior Darryl Wood caught and passed his challenger from last week's Longwood race, finishing with a strong 32:55, just missing a new PR.
Women's Cross-country standouts-
Freshman Andrea Loos was Regent's top female runner taking in a time of 26:36.
Freshman Ciera Miller ran well in her first race of the season and scored a 29:28 in the 6k.
Team Notes -
The Running Royals will now prepare over the next two weeks for the NCCAA South Region Meet hosted by Bob Jones University and held on Saturday, October 30th at 9:00 am.
