Warsaw, IN - On Friday morning in Indiana, Sophomore
Aaron Jacobs (Stafford, VA) became the first Regent University Cross Country runner to ever compete in the NCCAA National Championships. After running against numerous NCAA Division I, II, and III competition, Jacobs was focused on now going against the Nation's best. There were no nerves for Jacobs as he attacked the course for an overall time of 28:46.60, which was good enough for 52nd place in the field of 91 participants.
"It's exciting being here and I am really thankful for the opportunity", said Jacobs. "The course was amazing. It was a proper cross country course as you get to run through woods, trails and hills. I hope this is a preview of things to come and I am hoping to come back next year and bring more teammates. It has been amazing".
When Head Coach Michael Rose was asked to reflect on Aaron's accomplishments, he said Ecclesiastes 9:10-11 describes it best. "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with all the might...that the race is not given to the swift, nor the battle to the strong...but time and chance happens to them all".
Now that the cross country season has come to an end, Jacobs will turn his focus to the track season. He qualified for last year's outdoor National Championships and hope to do it again.
