Donte Minter

Donte Minter enters his second season as the Head Coach of the Women's Basketball team.  In his first season he produced the program's All-Time Assist Leader, All-Time Single Season Double-Double Leader, the Single Game Rebound Leader and an All-South Region First Team Selection.    

Prior to Regent, Minter was an  assistant coach at CIAA member Livingstone College in North Carolina. While at Livingston College, Minter was responsible for creating practice plans and overseeing student-athlete study halls.  In addition, he started the first Tip-off dinner for the program in 20 years and created the program's first ever endowment fund, while having a role in developing the CIAA Freshman of the Year.  Prior to coaching at Livingstone, Minter served as the top assistant at Regent where he was responsible for recruiting, budgets, conditioning, game strategies and basketball analytics.  He is also well known in the Hampton Roads area, as he was the Head Junior Varsity Men’s Basketball Coach at Norfolk Christian School from 2014-2017 and served as an assistant coach at Salem High School during the 2014-2015 season.   

Minter, who was inducted into the Salisbury-Rowan Hall of Fame in 2017, was an All-State high school player and a key component of a West Rowan dynasty, where he won a state championship his Senior year.  He began his college playing career at the University of Virginia but eventually transferred to Appalachian State University.  Minter was a key player for the Mountaineers and helped them win the San Juan Shootout in Puerto Rico in December 2006 as they beat Virginia, Central Florida and Vanderbilt.  In addition, his 20 points helped lead Appalachian State to a road upset of Arkansas in front of 10,835 fans.

Minter holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Appalachian State University.
