Kayson is an experienced educator, coach, and entrepreneur with over 25 years of dedication to athletics and teaching. A native of New Haven, CT, he excelled as a multi-sport athlete at Hillhouse High School, competing in cross-country, track and field, basketball, football, and volleyball, earning achievements at both the district and state levels.

Initially pursuing a career in architecture, Kayson earned an Associate's Degree in Architectural and Mechanical Drafting from the New England Institute of Technology. However, his passion for sports led him to Liberty University, where he walked on to the Division I basketball team and became involved in sports development. He also began his coaching career, working at various levels while earning a Bachelor's degree in Health and Physical Education.

After college, Kayson moved to Virginia Beach and began teaching in Virginia Beach and Norfolk Public Schools. Over the past 13+ years, he has taught K-12 students while co-owning several businesses and continuing his coaching career. Kayson has achieved a proven record of success as both a head and assistant coach at the recreational, AAU, middle school, high school, and collegiate levels. His teams have a winning percentage of over 80%, and several of his players have gone on to play professionally, semi-professionally, or at the NCAA Division I, II, and III levels. As a USA Basketball Licensed Coach, Kayson has also traveled the world as a sports missionary, working with top players in countries such as Kenya, Jamaica, and the Bahamas.

Notable achievements include being named Virginia Coach of the Year in 2007 and 2009. In 2007, Kayson led the Landstown Middle School Boys' team to the VHSL Basketball Championship, following multiple conference titles. In 2008, he became the Varsity Girls' Head Coach at Norfolk Christian. In his first year, the team became Co-Division TCIS Conference champions and made it to the State Semifinals. In his second year, the girls achieved new milestones, including their first-ever 20+ win season, TCIS Conference Champions, and their first state title in 57 years. He was named VISGBA Division II State Coach of the Year. The following year, Kayson joined the coaching staff at Virginia Wesleyan University.

Kayson is married to his wife and best friend, Natalie, and they have three daughters: Naomi, Nadine, and Nevaeh. He is excited to be part of the Regent staff and community, eager to continue making a positive impact on students and athletes alike.
