Katelyn Totherow enters her 5th year as the Head Women's Volleyball Coach. Known as Coach K.T., Totherow has turned around Regent's program in her short time with the Royals, helping her team earn it's first National ranking in school history (#10 in 2023), while also guiding Regent to their first ever South Region Championship (2023). Under K.T.'s guidance, Regent also received its first ever berth to the NCCAA National Championships in Missouri, as the team posted the most wins in program history with 15.
In 2024, K.T. was named a 30 Under 30 Award Recipient by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). During the 2023 season, K.T. was named the South Region Coach of the Year, while coaching the South Region's Player of the Year. In addition, the Royals produced two National Players of the Week, two First Team All-South Region selections, one Second Team All-South Region selection and the program was named an NCCAA Scholar Team. Statistically, her team ranked #2 in total service aces, #14 in opponent hitting percentage and , individually, #1 in total kills (Nicole Walston), #1 in total service aces (Erin Saunders) and #1 in total points (Nicole Walston). In 2024, her team continued to have success, earning the #3 seed in the South Region Tournament, while also producing a National Player of the Week, two All-South Region Selections and Two NCCAA Scholar Athletes.
Prior to coming to Regent Coach K.T. was an Assistant Coach at UVA-Wise. While at UVA-Wise, she coached athletes that earned both MEC All-Freshman Team and the All-MEC Honorable Mention Team. K.T. worked heavily within the recruiting and social media content development, while also heading up the team defensive efforts. She helped guide the the department through the transition of becoming a South Atlantic Conference member institution.
Totherow also previously served as the assistant coach at Lenoir-Rhyne University (a member of the South Atlantic Conference) for two years prior to her time at Wise. During her time at Lenoir-Rhyne, she coached athletes voted Second Team All-Conference each year and a Freshman of the Year selection.
Also, during her time at Lenoir-Rhyne, K.T. attained a Master of Arts in University Leadership. While working to earn her degree, she created a servant leadership development program which she implemented within a local high school’s FCA huddle, teaching them the importance of being servant-leaders both on and off the court. She has also served as director and camp assistant director of Star Volleyball Services, LLC, in Roanoke, Virginia and worked as the associate head volleyball coach for Burke Elite Volleyball.
Coach K.T. earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in Physical Education/Health from Averett University. While at Averett, she was a four-year letter-winner for the Women's Volleyball team. During her career, the Cougars captured USA South North Division championships. Her senior year, she ranked 44th in the nation in total service aces and tied for fifth all-time in NCAA Division III for consecutive points served.
A native of Danville, VA, she is a graduate of Westover Christian Academy and currently resides in Norfolk, VA with her husband Daymon Totherow.
