Women's Volleyball Wasps Classic Recap

Emory, VA - The Regent Royals women's volleyball went 1-2 at the Wasps Classic hosted by Emory and Henry College this past weekend. Despite the two losses, the Royals continue to improve, with three of their best offensive performances of the season.

Game 1

The Royals won in four sets (28-26, 26-28, 25-18, 25-18) against Johnson and Wales University on Friday, October 1st.

Royal Standouts-

Freshman Grace Bickley had a monster day for the Royals finishing with a career-high 20 kills.

Game Notes-

The team had its best all-around offensive game to date, cumulating 68 kills on 179 total attacks.

Game 2 -

The Royals lost in four sets (25-19, 29-27, 24-26,23-25) to Emory & Henry College on Saturday, October 2nd. The match was tightly contested, with over 15 lead changes as the Royals pushed each set to the brink.

Royal Standouts-

Senior Gabriella Keaton continues to improve each game for the Royals as she had an outstanding defensive outing leading the team with 21 digs.

Game 3

The Royals lost in four sets (17-25, 18-25, 30-28, 20-25) to Bob Jones University. The team played a solid game, but the attack from the #1 ranked (NCCAA Division II) Bruins was too much to overcome.
 

Royal Standouts -

Sophomore Emily Speier did all she could to get the offense going setting up teammates for 35 assists on the match with a total of 139 on the weekend.

Team Notes-

Women's volleyballs record moves to 3-7. The Royals will head to Elizabeth City State University for their next match on Wednesday, October 6th.
