Hampton, VA- The Regent Royals men's basketball team lost 70-56 to NCAA Division 1 opponent Hampton University on Saturday, November 13th. A combination of timely shot-making and stringent defense made the first half a back-and-forth battle with the Royals leading Hampton by as much as seven points midway through the first half. Down by just four entering the second half, the Regent men came up with some key stops to keep it close before a late run by the Pirates put the game out of reach.
Royals Standouts-
Senior Drew Aiken found his shooting rhythm early in the game, going 7-15 from the floor and shooting 50% from deep. He finished with a team-high 18 points while grabbing seven boards.
Senior Andrew Walston was a major factor on both ends of the floor throughout the night. Â His pesky defense helped keep Hampton to just 1-20 from three on the night while adding eight points.
