Lexington, VA – The Regent University Men's Soccer team continues to have the mentality "Play Anyone Anywhere" as they faced NCAA Division I and Southern Conference member VMI on Wednesday afternoon. This was a game that would be featured nationally on ESPN+ and it was an opportunity to have the announcers speak about the Royals program.
Regent had some scoring opportunities to begin the game, but VMI struck first to take an early lead, 1-0. While Freshman Connor Henriques (Spotsylvania, VA) fended off a number of Keydet shots, VMI was able to break through again to increase their lead to two goals. Unfortunately, VMI continued to put pressure on their offensive side of the field and would find the goal three more times to end the half with the lead. In the second half, the Royals were able to generate some scoring chances, but the Keydets were as well and as the game came to an end, they would fall by a final score of 9-0.
This was a good experience for Regent as viewers were able to learn more about the Royals program and the announcers were very complimentary of Coach Okai's vision for the future. Regent will be back in action on Saturday, October 14th when they travel to Charlotte, NC to face Johnson & Wales. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00pm.
