Box Score Elizabeth City, NC - After a big weekend sweep, the Regent University Volleyball team traveled south down Route 17 to face Mid-Atlantic Christian University on Tuesday evening. This was the third time the Royals would face the Mustangs this season and they were able to end the night with the series sweep. It would not be easy as Regent faced an energetic and hostile crowd in North Carolina. However, the Royals kept their composure and came away with their 11th win of the season.
NCCAA National Offensive Player of the Week, Sophomore
Nicole Walston (Wake Forest, NC) and Junior
Jordan Banister (Chesapeake, VA) set the tone in the first set and led Regent to the win 25-16, They would keep that momentum in the second set, dominating on the offensive side, with a spark from Freshman
Ella Simone (El Paso, TX) and Freshman
Zoe Bowers (Buffalo, NY) to close it out 25-8. Banister's serving set the pace in set three, along with Walston's kills, to go up early in the third set 7-3. Simone, Banister and Freshman
Erin Saunders (Danville, VA) continued earn points, helping the Royals win the set, 25-7 and the overall win 3-0.
Walston led the team with 11 kills, while Banister finished the game with 9. In addition, Saunders served up 4 aces. Regent will be back in action on Friday as they travel to Winston-Salem, NC for a tri-match with Carolina University and Bob Jones University. First Serve is scheduled for 2:00pm.
