Point Lookout, MO - The Regent University Volleyball team ended their historic season on a winning note, as they came away with a hard fought five set win over Baptist Bible College on Thursday night. With the support of a large group of Royals fans who made the trip to the Ozarks, Regent played one of their best games of the year to prove that they belonged among the nations's best teams in the tournament.
The Royals fell behind early falling in the first set 25-23. However, they would bounce back in the second set and come away with a tight win 25-23. The Patriots took control in the third set, winning 25-17, but Regent would not back down and they went on an offensive run to tie things up by taking the fourth set 25-19. The fifth set was a competitive one and the Royals came alive to come away with the win, 15-8.
Regent was led by Sophomore
Nicole Walston (Wake Forest,NC), who was playing in her final game in a Royals uniform, as she finished with 28 kills and a career high 31 points. In addition, Freshman
Ella Simone (El Paso, TX) recorded a season high 52 assists to go along with her 14 digs, while Freshman
Erin Saunders (Danville, VA) finished with 11 kills and 18 digs. Regent will look to the off-season to continue to build the program and get back to Nationals next year.
