Box Score Virginia Beach, VA - Seniors Kali Murrell (Long Beach, CA) and Kaila Murrell (Long Beach, CA) scored 25 and 23 points respectively on Thursday night against Cheyney University of Pennsylvania, with a short handed team, however it would not be enough to send Graduate Student Brooke Glisson (Virginia Beach, VA) out with a win in her final game.  Playing with only six players, the Regent University Women's Basketball team held their own and pushed the Wolves for three quarters, but it would not be enough as the Royals fell by a final score of 87-69.

Regent gained control, as the game began, with Kali Murrell hitting five straight three pointers, allowing the Royals to take the early lead, 23-18.  After a gutsy performance from Junior Courtney Rowley (Lusk, WY), which saw her lead the team in assists, with five, Regent was able to go into the half with a one-point advantage, 41-40.  As the second half went on, Glisson established herself down low, scoring 12 points and grabbing a game high 14 rebounds, to keep the Royals in the game.  With only six players able to play in the game, Freshman Briana Tavarez (Newport News, VA) came off the bench, to give her starters a rest, and was able to play a role on the defensive boards, pulling down three rebounds off her own.  Unfortunately, Regent was unable to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter to come away with the win.

The Royals will now enjoy their holiday break and be back in action on January 12th, when they host Appalachian Bible College.  Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00pm.
