Greenville, SC – On Friday night, the Regent University Men's Basketball team traveled down I-85 to face Bob Jones University. The game would be played in front of a rowdy crowd and the Royals came out prepared to play. However, a strong effort from the Bruins put the Royals on the losing end of the game. 

As the first half began, Sophomore Darrin Clark (Suffolk, VA) started the scoring with a driving basket, but the Bruins would answer and take an early lead 5-2. Freshman Marion Brown (Chesapeake, VA) converted back-to-back baskets and suddenly Regent was back in the game. A jumper by Clark kept the deficit at four points, which he followed up with a driving layup to trim the score to 14-12. However, Bob Jones was able to increase their lead to double digits until Junior Joakim-Marie Joseph (Saint Martin, VI) grabbed an offensive rebound and laid it in the basket. Unfortunately, the Bruins would go on a run to take their largest lead of the half, 32-17. Two three-pointers by Clark kept them in the game, but as the teams went into the locker room, the Royals trailed 44-27. 

A baseline three-pointer from Clark started the Regent scoring in the second half and then a fast break layup by Brown kept them in the game. Freshman Kristofer Norman (Norfolk, VA) also found the basket but unfortunately the Royals could not mount a comeback and would fall by a final score of 87-66 

The Royals will return to action tomorrow, Saturday, December 9th, as they travel to the Low Country to face USC-Beaufort. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30pm.
