Elizabeth City, NC - The Regent Royals men's basketball team lost 76-74 to Mid-Atlantic Christian University on February 7. The always-exciting matchup between the Royals and Mustangs proved to be another thriller. With under 10 seconds remaining and the score tied at 74, the Mustangs missed a short jumper but were able to steal the outlet for a quick layup with only 4 seconds left to seal the game.
Royals Standouts -
Junior Michael Burkett scorched the nets on his way to a team-high 21 points while going a perfect 3-3 from behind the arc and adding six boards.
Freshman Darrin Clark had a solid defensive game as the point-of-attack defender, coming away with two steals and disrupting the Mustang offense throughout the night. On the other side of the ball, he continued to excel in his role as point guard scoring 19 points while setting the tempo for the Royals.
