Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Regent splits their opening matches at the Bob Jones Invitational in South Carolina

Greenville, SC – The Regent University Volleyball team hit the road for a long road trip this weekend to participate in the Bruins Invitational at Bob Jones University. The Royals would play two matches on Friday evening and then turn around and play two more on Saturday morning. As the Friday matches were completed, Regent would record a win over Clinton College, 3-1, but fall to a very tough Boyce College, in a five-set match, by a final score of 3-2.

Match 1

The Royals fell to the Bears in the first set, which was their first set loss of the season, by a close score of 25-23. However, that is the last set they would lose, as they put together three straight set wins, 25-11, 25-23 and 25-10. (Stay tuned for final match stats once provided by the host team)

Match 2

Regent took on a strong Bulldogs team as they fell in the first two sets, 25-13 and 25-19. However, the Royals came alive in the third set battling back for a close win, 25-20 and then continued that momentum into the fourth set and tied the match up, winning 25-19. The fifth and deciding set saw Regent fall behind early 11-0, but made a comeback. However, they eventually fell 15-9 for their first defeat of the year. Freshman Erin Saunders (Danville, VA) led the Royals with 10 kills and 7 aces, while Junior Jordan Banister (Chesapeake, VA) recorded 4 blocks and Sophomore Makayla Daniels (Chesapeake, VA) finished with 16 digs.

Regent will return to action on Saturday, September 16th as they play the third and fourth matches of the Bruins Invitational, against Grace University and Welch College.  First serve is scheduled for 10:00am.
