Virginia Beach, VA - On Friday night, Sophomore
Darrin Clark (Suffolk, VA) put together one of his best games of the season scoring 27 points, going 10-16 from the field, 4-7 from the three-point line and 3-5 from the free throw line. In addition, he dished out 6 assists, but it was not enough as the Regent University Men's Basketball team fell in a heart breaker to Christendom College, by a final score of 80-76. It would be one of the most exciting and fast paced home contests this year, with the crowd being entertained to a great college basketball game.
The first half saw the Crusaders establish the tempo, which allowed them to take the lead into the locker room, 36-28. However, in the second half, the Royals found their rhythm and were able to go out in front on numerous occasions. Christendom would regain the lead, but a three-pointer from Clark tied the game with under a minute left. Unfortunately, the Crusaders had an answer and were able to convert a three-pointer of their own and then seal the game from the free throw line.
In addition to Clark's performance, Freshman K
ristopher Norman (Norfolk, VA) came off the bench to provide a spark on offense by scoring 13 points and fellow freshman
Marion Brown (Chesapeake, VA) added 11 points, while grabbing 5 rebounds, to go a long with his 3 steals. Junior
Joakim Marie-Jospesh (Saint Martin) led Regent from the free throw line, finishing the game nearly perfect, 4-5 and Sophomore
Joshua Vogt (Lima, NY), saw his first action of the year, draining 2 three-pointers.
The royals will be back in action on Thursday, January 18th when they hit the road to once again face Christendom. Tip-off is schedule for 7:00pm.
