Virginia Beach, VA - A slow first half turned into a strong second half for the Regent University Men's Basketball team on Sunday afternoon, as the Royals hosted NCAA Division III member Salisbury University. It is always difficult to play a team in a higher league, but Regent has been doing it all season and it has prepared them for every time they set foot on the court. The first half was not the way the Royals wanted things to start, but as they came back out of the locker room for the second half, Regent was able to outscore the Seagulls, 51-43. The opportunity to compete against a team that took the #1 team in the country to the wire can only help the Royals move forward and improve, despite the loss, 86-68.
Freshman
Marion Brown (Chesapeake, VA) led Regent with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Freshman
Kristofer Norman (Norfolk, VA) finished the game with 14 points. In addition, Junior
Matthew Mealy (Chesapeake, VA) added 9 points and was 4-5 from the field. The two teams will play again on Wednesday, January 24th in Maryland for the rematch. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30pm.
