Lynchburg, VA - Over the past two weeks, the Regent University Women's Volleyball team has found their rhythm, having come away from their home stand with three wins.  This afternoon they would look to continue their strong play participating in a tri-match with Sweet Briar College and Randolph College.  The Royals have beaten the Vixens twice this season but have never beaten the Wildcats. Â
Game OneÂ
The first set began with Sweet Brair taking an early one-point lead, but Regent quickly erased that after a Junior Erin Saunders (Danville, VA) kill, which began an 8-0 run. Â Freshman Annalise Todd (Raleigh, NC) took control at the net, while fellow Freshman Keira Anderson (Leland, NC) delivered six service aces to win the set 25-5. Â In the second set, Freshman Brooklynn Delane (Colonial Beach, VA) delivered her own aces, along with Freshman Rylee Stewart (Newport News, VA), who set up her teammates for points and that allowed them to take the set, 25-7. Â Todd and Delane began the third set with numerous kills, while Senior Eliana Winn (Albuquerque, NM) displayed power at the net, and that is all the Royals would need as they earned the sweep, 3-0 (25-9).Â
Todd finished with 9 kills, while Anderson had a team high 12 digs and 7 aces. Â In addition, Stewart added 14 assists and Freshman Emma Kristiansen (Sparts, NJ) added a total of 6 services aces. Â Â
Game TwoÂ
Todd and Stewart established the Regent scoring early in the first set as the Royals jumped out to a quick lead, 7-0. Â However, Randolph would go on a run to eventually tie the score and then grab the advantage. Â Todd and Sophomore Alaina Braun-Duin (Stephens City, VA) brought the Royals closer, but they would fall in the set 25-16. Â The second set played out the same way with Regent eventually taking a five-point lead behind three straight kills from Saunders. Â Winn kept the Royals in front; however the Wildcats battled back and took the set 26-24. Â Once again, the third set saw the score go back-and-forth as Saunders, Winn and Braun-Duin kept it close. Â However, the Royals could not mount a comeback and fell by a final score of 3-0 (25-14).Â
Saunders finished with 8 kills and 13 digs, while Stewart dished out 18 assists.Â
Regent will be back in action on Friday, October 31st when they travel to the Nation's Capital to face Washington Adventist University.  First serve is scheduled for 2:00pm. Â
