Norfolk, VA – A new look lineup was showcased Saturday afternoon for the Regent University Women's Volleyball team. With the Royals nursing some injuries, Coach Katelyn Totherow shuffled her players around as Regent hosted a Royals Fest Weekend tri-match with Trinity Washington University and Eastern Mennonite University. Even with the adjustments, Regent was able to sweep their first match against TWU and then take EMU to five sets in the final match of the day. Below are some highlights from today's matches.
Game One (Win 3-0)
Senior Brielle Peltonen (Virginia Beach, VA) played Libero and finished with 15 digs
Freshman Rylee Stewart (Newport News, VA) dished out 14 assists and had 4 kills
Senior Eliana Winn (Albuquerque, NM) led the team with 7 kills and 3 blocks
Freshman Daily Davis (Bristow, VA) recorded 5 service aces
As a team, the Royals served up 15 total aces
Game Two (Loss 2-3)
Sophomore Alaina Braun-Duin (Stephens City) finished with 16 total kills
Junior Erin Saunders (Danville, VA) played Libero and recorded a team high 25 digs, while Stewart dished out 29 assists to go along with 15 digs and 3 service aces
As a team, Regent finished with 49 kills, 89 digs and 11 service aces
The Royals will be back in action on Saturday, October 11th when they travel to Maryland for a tri-match with Salisbury University and Stevenson University. First serve is scheduled for 11:00am.
