Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Royals Host Randolph College In Thanksgiving Weekend Match-Up

Virginia Beach, VA – In a rematch from a couple of weeks ago, the Regent University Men's Basketball team welcomed in Randolph College for a Thanksgiving weekend contest.  The Royals were dealing with injuries to some of their key starters, but their roster depth would look to make up for any issues they had.  Today also featured another reunion between the Regent and Wildcat coaching staffs, as they all of history together here in the 757.

The first half saw Randolph get on the board first, but Junior Antoine Brown (Chesapeake, VA) answered with a jumper after receiving a pass from Freshman Joshua Hanna (Chesterfield, VA).  After a layup by Senior Darrin Clark (Suffolk, VA), he then found Freshman Chase Mullen (Virginia Beach, VA) for an Alley-oop that brought the crowd to their feet.  The score would remain close as Clark drained back-to-back three-pointers and then Freshman Carmelo Martinez (San Antonio, TX) trimmed the deficit to one point with a driving layup.  Clark would add two more three-pointers, while Junior Emani Langley (Chesapeake, VA) added one of his own, but as the teams headed into halftime, the Royals trailed 45-34.

Regent had some highlights in the second half, with Clark and Martinez converting more three-pointers.  In addition, Mullen would add to his Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference leading blocks with a crucial one on the defensive end, while Hanna and Brown were able to find their way to the basket for points.  Unfortunately, the Royals could not mount a run, and as the final horn sounded, they fell by a final score of 89-63.

Clark finished the game with 23 points and 6 rebounds, while Brown added 16 points.  On the defensive end, Mullen recorded 3 blocks and a steal.

Regent will be back in action on Wednesday, December 3rd when they travel to the Tarheel State for a match-up with North Carolina Wesleyan University.  Tip-off is scheduled for 12:00pm.
