Bagley Breaks Single Game Saves Record As Regent Ends Season In Conference Quarterfinals

Salisbury, MD – For most of this year's season, the Regent University Women's Soccer team has had to deal with numerous injuries. There have been some games they have played down a player; however, that did not keep the Royals from competing in every game they played.  That dedication paid off as Regent qualified for their first ever Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Tournament in only their first year as members.  As the #6 seed, they were matched up against the #3 seed University of California – Santa Cruz on Thursday afternoon.  The two teams were meeting for the field time on the field, and, for the Royals, it was another opportunity to help their program "Move The Needle".

The first half saw the Banana Slugs get a quick goal, but after that the Royals' defense was able to shut them down behind the play of Junior Rhyan Primmer (Stafford, VA), Sophomore Serenity Cortez (Fresno, CA), Freshman Lianne Edmiston (Dallas, OR) and Freshman Goalkeeper Vera Bagley (Suffolk, VA).  Even though Regent was not able to mount a comeback in the second half and come away with a win, they fought until the final horn, which is what they have done all season.

Bagley finished the game setting the single season save record with 18 on the day.  She had previously tied the record a few weeks ago, when she started her first collegiate game.
