Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Weekend Road Trip Begins For Regent At Methodist University

Fayetteville, NC – While exams are over and the student body has begun to head home for Christmas break, the Regent University Men's Basketball team focused on their unfinished business as they began a weekend road trip at Methodist University.  The Royals have been fighting through injuries but as a team they had a "next man up" attitude and they would carry that over into today's game.

Regent came out focused and competitive, out-rebounding the Monarchs 21–13 in the first half, keeping the game close. The Royals' defense forced multiple early turnovers, while the offense flowed through Sophomore Darrin Clark (Suffolk, VA), who finished with 17 points on 6-of-15 shooting, leading all scorers.  Freshman Dorian Tema (Frederick, MD) was a steady presence in the paint, recording a double-double with 10 rebounds and 4 points, helping Regent control the glass with a season-high 42 total rebounds, while Freshman Chase Mullen (Virginia Beach, VA) added 5 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2 points, making key stops inside.

Offensively, Junior Antoine Brown (Chesapeake, VA) scored his 500th career point in the game as he added 7 points and 6 rebounds, while Junior Emani Langley (Chesapeake, VA) and Freshman Joshua Hanna (Chesterfield, VA) chipped in key three-pointers to stretch the Methodist defense. Regent's bench also played valuable minutes, highlighted by a three-point play from Freshman Grant Worley (Chesapeake, VA).  However, as the final horn sounded, they would fall by a final score of 65-42.

Despite the Monarch's pulling away late for the win, the Royals showed discipline on defense, committing just 15 fouls to Methodist's 16, and holding their opponents to only 1-of-15 from beyond the arc — one of Regent's best defensive showings against the three this season.

The Royals will have be back in action on Sunday, December 14th when they finish their road trip in Raleigh where they will face William Peace University.  Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00pm.
