Front Royal, VA – On Tuesday night the Regent University Men's Basketball team was back on the road, this time facing Christendom College.  The two teams met earlier in the season, with the Royals earning the win and they were looking to complete the season sweep.  However, in order to do so they would have to endure another rowdy court along with the absence of their starting point guard. 

Sophomore Antoine Brown (Chesapeake, VA) began the first half with a three-pointer and then Freshman Brandon Williams (Windsor, NC) found the basket for Regent's second score of the game. On the next possession, Junior Darrin Clark (Suffolk, VA) stole the ball and found a streaking Brown for the fast break layup.  The Crusaders were able to pull to within one-point, but Junior Anthony Chenault (Portsmouth, VA) would drain a three and then Brown found his way into the paint for another score.  However, Christendom eventually took their first lead of the game but Junior Joshua Vogt (Rochester, NY), Sophomore DJ Dillon (Franklin, VA) and Freshman JT May (Jasonville, IN) all came off the bench to hit back-to-back-to-back three-pointers to regain the momentum.  Coming out of a timeout, Vogt would score again to give the Royals their largest lead of the game 23-15.  After a Crusaders three-pointer, Junior Damien Walters, Jr. (Matthews, VA) answered with one of his own to keep the advantage at eight points.  The three-point baskets continued as Clark drained one from the top of the key and then he would do it again grabbing his own offensive rebound for the put back. After Christendom cut the lead to five, Brown was able to cut down the paint converting a layup and then Clark would hit a driving layup to, once again, go up by eight points, 35-27.  However, as the teams headed to the locker rooms at the half, the Regent lead was down to three, 36-33. 

The second half started with a Dillon jumper, but the Crusaders answered.  The game would eventually be tied until Clark connected a on three-pointer from behind the arc and on the next possession Brown would connect on one of his own.  A few minutes later Christendom, once again, tied the score and then took the lead, forcing a Royals timeout.  Eventually, Williams would get to the free throw line where he converted both attempts, while May pulled up for a quick three-pointer.  After falling behind by four points, Brown dribbled past the defense for a floater and then Clark drove past three defenders for the layup.  However, the Crusaders continued to score and found themselves ahead 63-57.  Williams trimmed the lead to four points after two free throws and after another Christendom score, Junior Maxamus Simms (Atlanta, GA) hit a baseline three, followed by Brown finding a cutting Dillon for a layup.  The advantage was cut to one-point after two Sophomore Micah Eastman (Virginia Beach, VA) free throws but the Crusaders continued to keep the lead and as the final buzzer sounded, Regent fell by a final score of 82-74.

The Royals will conclude their season on Saturday, February 22nd, when they travel to Winston-Salem to face Carolina University.
