Virginia Beach, VA – Saturday afternoon saw the Regent University Women's Soccer team compete for the first time as members of the NCAA and Coast-To-Coast Conference. With a key core group of returners, along with a number of talented newcomers, the Royals welcomed in Piedmont University, who is considered one of the best teams in the Collegiate Conference of the South. Regent showed just how improved they were with physical play to go along with speed on the offensive side of the field. However, despite Junior Kristen Miller (Peoria, AZ) coming up with some spectacular saves in the goal, the Royals would fall to the Lions by a final score of 4-0.
Junior Sierra Smullen (Snow Hill, MD) and Freshman Sarah Brownell (Virginia Beach, VA) each finished with 2 shots apiece, while Miller finished the game with 9 saves.
Regent will be back in action on Wednesday, September 3rd as they hit the road for a match-up with Sweet Briar College. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:00pm.
