Fredericksburg, VA - Before the winter storm hits the Hampton Roads area, the Regent University Women's Basketball team made a quick trip up I-95 to face the University of Mary Washington. This was the second time in just a few weeks that the two teams have faced each other and it would be another tough test for the young Royals. In addition, tonight was a homecoming for Junior
Shardae Williams (Fredericksburg, VA) and Sophomore
Kaitlyn Russell (Fredericksburg, VA) as they were able to play in their hometown in front of their families.
Freshman
Eliza Entzminger (Winterville, NC) led the way with a team-high 7 points (including a 3-pointer), while adding a career high 4 blocks. In addition, fellow Freshman
Kennedy Shipman (Virginia Beach, VA) contributed 7 points (going 3-of-4 from the free-throw line) and a game-high 3 steals in 37 minutes on the floor,. Running the point on the night was Junior
Zipporah Johnson (Waterford, MI) who finished with 4 points and had a strong rebounding presence grabbing 5 rebounds, while as a team Regent ended the game with 26 total rebounds.
The Royals will be back in action on Wednesday, January 28th when they travel to Front Royal for a rematch with Christendom College. Tip-off is set for 5:00pm.
