Newport News, VA - On Saturday night, the Regent University Men's Soccer team made the short trip through the tunnel for a Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference match-up with Christopher Newport University. While it was an away game, there was a large contingent of Royals fans who made the trip, which included a number of fellow student-athletes. Despite falling by a score of 5-0, Regent continued to compete throughout the game and created a number of scoring opportunities.
The Royals generated nine shots on the night, including three on goal, while earning three corner kicks, while Freshman Jones Ferguson (San Antonio, TX), Junior Landen Staples (Chesapeake, VA) and Freshman David Gillespie (Odessa, FL) each recorded a shot on goal. In addition, Freshmen Jack Houseknecht (Yorktown, VA) and Jacobo Hoyos (Virginia Beach, VA) each registered attempts and Senior Connor Henriques (Spotsylvania, VA) played the full 90 minutes, making eight saves, including three in the first half and five in the second.
Regent will be back in action on Wednesday, October 15th when they host Southern Virginia University at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00pm.
