Salisbury, MD - The Regent University Men's Soccer concluded its 2026 season on Thursday afternoon against the University of Mary Washington in the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinals. Despite the 3-0 loss, the game was highlighted by an outstanding final collegiate appearance from Senior Connor Henriques (Spotsylvania, VA) who tied his own school record with 13 saves. Henriques provided the highlight of the afternoon for the Royals, delivering another impressive performance between the posts in the final game of his collegiate career. The veteran goalkeeper turned away 13 shots, matching the program's single-game saves record that he previously established. His performance was a fitting conclusion to his time in a Regent uniform, showcasing the toughness, and leadership that have defined his career.
The Royals faced immediate pressure from the Eagles but remained competitive throughout the opening half behind Henriques and a determined defensive effort. Henriques recorded six first-half saves, including several important stops that kept Regent within striking distance. Mary Washington broke through in the 28th minute, but the Royals continued to battle, limiting the damage and entering halftime trailing just 1-0. The second half featured another strong effort from Henriques, who added seven saves to his record-tying afternoon. As the Eagles continued applying offensive pressure, the Regent goalkeeper repeatedly answered the challenge, keeping the Royals competitive deep into the contest. Mary Washington eventually extended its advantage with two goals in the 74th and 76th minutes, but Regent continued competing until the final whistle.
Henriques' performance served as a fitting final chapter for him, as he leaves the program having established himself as an important part of Regent men's soccer history. By matching his own school record in his final appearance, he added another memorable achievement to his collegiate career and provided an example of perseverance and dedication for future teams.
With a strong core coming back, the Royals will turn their attention to next season as they open up their new campus facility.
