Regent Begins Four Game Week At Southern Virginia University

Buena Vista, VA - As the Regent University Baseball team begins the second half of their schedule, Wednesday was the beginning of a crucial four-game week that started with a rematch against USA South member Southern Virginia University.  The two teams met earlier in the year back in Virignia Beach and the Royals were looking for some payback to their one run loss to the Knights.  However, despite a five run fifth inning, Regent would fall by a final score of 14-8.

Despite the loss, the Royals recorded seven hits, while drawing 11 walks on the day.  Junior Jayden Alvarez (Newport News, VA) went 2-for-3 with a run scored, an RBI, two walks, and a strong .800 on-base percentage in the game. His lead off single and aggressive base running helped spark momentum.  In addition, Sophomore Maddox German (Fairfax, VA) delivered a clutch two-run double in the fifth inning, while Freshman Colton Sandiford (Seaford, VA) provided the game's biggest offensive punch for Regent with a solo home run in the ninth inning, his second long ball of the season.  Freshman Nathan Vaughan (Mechanicsville, VA) reached base four times (1-for-2, two walks, two hit-by-pitches) and drove in one run and Freshman Jordan Hunt (Virginia Beach, VA) added an RBI and a stolen base while reaching base twice.

The Royals will be back in action on Friday, March 27th when they host Johnson & Wales University in their first ever Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference series.  First pitch is at 7:00pm.
