Oblepias And Loucks Both Homer In Final Regular Season Conference Match-Up With CNU

Newport News, VA – For the second time in five days, the Regent University Baseball team made the trip to the Peninsula for a Coast-To-Coast Conference match-up with nationally ranked Christopher Newport University.  It was the final time the two teams would meet in the regular season, as they both were positioning themselves for seeding in the Conference tournament.  The Captains were in a battle for the top seed while the Royals were exceeding expectations with sole possession of fourth place.

Regent got on the board in the third inning when Junior Jayden Alvarez (Newport News, VA) delivered an RBI single that scored Freshman Colton Sandiford (Seaford, VA). Freshman Dylan Oblepias (Katy, TX) provided the biggest spark for the Royals, launching a solo home run in the fourth and adding another hit in the sixth. Junior Ethan Loucks (Montpelier, VA) followed with a two-run homer in the sixth, scoring Oblepias and accounting for two of Regent's four runs.

The Royals' offense managed seven hits overall, with strong contributions from Alvarez 1-for-4, RBI, Oblepias 2-for-4, 2 runs, HR, Loucks 1-for-3, 2 RBI, HR), and Freshman Raz Kolakovsky (San Diego, CA) 1-for-3, double. Freshman Nathan Vaughan (Mechanicsville, VA) and Sandiford each added a hit as well but would fall by a final score to #20 CNU, 16-4.

Regent will be back in action on Sunday, April 19th when they travel to Baltimore for a doubleheader with Notre Dame of Maryland. First pitch is at 1:30pm.
