Virginia Beach, VA - On Wednesday night, the Regent University Baseball team wrapped up a season series with Virginia Peninsula Community College as the two teams played their third game against each other. The Royals would win the first two, but fell tonight to the Gators by a final score of 10-7.
After falling behind early, Regent fought their way back with a run in the fourth on a Freshman
Caleb Wood (Glen Allen, VA) RBI ground out and then erupted for three runs in the sixth. Freshman
Jordan Hunt (Virginia Beach, VA) drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, and an error by the Gator's right fielder plus a wild pitch allowed two more runs to score, narrowing the gap to 8-6. The Royals threatened late but could not overcome the deficit.
Offensive Highlights for the Royals:
- Hunt went 2-for-6 with an RBI and a stolen base attempt.
- Sophomore Maddox German (Fairfax,, VA) added a hit and an RBI while reaching base multiple times with two walks.
- Junior Ethan Loucks (Montpelier, VA) contributed a double and two hits.
- Freshman Nathan Vaughan (Mechanicsville, VA), Junior Jayden Alvarez (Nerwport News, VA), Freshman Dylan Oblepias (Katy, TX), Junior Ben Tweedy (Altavista, VA) and Wood each recorded hits or drew key walks, as the Royals totaled 10 hits and drew nine walks on the night.
Regen will be back in action when it travels through the tunnel on Sunday, April 12th to play #13 Christopher Newport Universirty in a Conference match-up. First pitch is at 2:00pm.
