Virginia Beach, VA – The Regent University Athletic Department has announced the appointment of Andrew Summers as its new Athletic Facilities & Gameday Operations Manager.
Summers, originally from State College, PA brings experience in game-day logistics, and facility operations and has most recently served as a part of the Regent Sports Network Broadcast Team. In his new role, Summers will be responsible for managing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of sports facilities, athletic events, and overseeing the logistics, ensuring the safety of athletes and spectators. He will also assist with the internal operations of the athletic department and assist the Director of Athletics and Assistant Athletic Director in the organization and administration of all aspects of the Regent Royals intercollegiate athletic program.
"We are pleased to announce Andrew as our Athletic Facilities & Gameday Operations Manager", said Director of Athletics Michael W. Allen. "Andrew is going to be a wonderful addition to our athletic department. His knowledge and passion for sports, as well as being a former student intern for our department, will no doubt aid in his transition to this new position. We have one more year of hard navigating our off-campus facilities and game day operations, and he will help ease that process for our coaches and student athletes. Additionally, he will be instrumental in assisting and creating historical school traditions and game day experiences for all who visit Regent University to attend on-campus sporting events beginning in fall 2027".
Summers previously served as an intern in the Athletic Communications Department and worked closely Sports Communications Director, Chris Sawyer, to create the Regent Sports Network. Around campus he became known as the Voice of the Royals and assisted with the game day set up at the University's off campus facilities. Summers has a proven track record of implementing operational efficiencies and enhancing fan engagement through improved game-day presentations.
"I am incredibly honored to join the Royals as the Athletic Facility and Gameday Operations Manager during such a pivotal moment in the university's history", said Summers. "The opening of our athletic facility presents an opportunity to help Move the Needle for our University. I look forward to helping build traditions, elevate the game day experience for our student-athletes, students, and fans, and create an environment where our student community can proudly gather to support the Regent Royals now and for years to come"
Summers holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business with a concentration in Sports Management from Regent University, and he and his wife Makayla reside in Virginia Beach.
