Cary, NC - The Regent University Women's Soccer traveled south to the Tarheel State Wednesday for a midweek match-up with William Peace University, out of the USA South Conference.   The Royals put together an aggressive offensive performance, consistently creating opportunities but fell by a final score of 3-0. Regent controlled much of the offensive side of the field throughout the night, finishing with an 18-11 advantage in total shots, including a 13-7 edge during the second half. The Royals also placed 11 attempts on goal and earned eight corner kicks compared to three for the Pacers.
Regent established its attack early as Freshman Lauren Pond (Midlothian, VA) forced a save in the 12th minute before Sophomore Kylie Gaines (Ramsuer, NC) put another shot on goal in the 27th minute, while Freshman Victoria Hoffmann (Lewisville, TX) added a shot on goal just before halftime. The Royals came out of the break with increased pressure as Hoffmann forced a save just over a minute into the second half, and Pond almost tied the game in the 50th minute but her attempt struck the right post. Regent continued to attack, with Freshman Carlie Ammons (Moyock, NC) putting two shots on goal during a three-minute stretch.
Hoffmann led the Royals with four shots on goal, while Pond recorded a team-high five total attempts.. Gaines finished with three shots and two on goal, while Ammons provided an immediate spark off the bench with two shots.
Regent will be back in action on Wednesday, September 16th when they host Eastern Mennonite University at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:00pm.
