Aston, PA - On Friday night, the Regent University Men's Soccer team began a weekend road trip through Pennsylvania with a game against Neumann University, out of the MAC Conference.
Senior Connor Henriques (Spotsylvania, VA) helped keep Regent in the match early, turning away six shots during the opening 45 minutes. Henriques played the full 90 minutes and finished the night with six saves.
The Royals limited Neumann to just three shots over the final 45 minutes after the Knights recorded 17 in the opening half. Regent also generated three of its four shots after halftime while earning two second-half corner kicks.
The Royals continued to push forward as the match progressed as Freshman Jones Ferguson (San Antonio, TX) led Regent with two shots, while fellow Freshmen John Adams (Chesapeake, VA) and Salvador Rendon (Chesapeake, VA) each added an attempt. Adams put Regent's lone shot on goal during his 37 minutes of action. The Royals' defensive improvement kept Neumann off the scoreboard for more than 42 minutes of the second half. Despite their effort, the Royals would fall to the Knights by a final score of 4-0.
Regent will finish its road trip when they travel to Chester, PA on Saturday, September 5th to face Widener University. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00pm.
