Coach Aaron Thomas brings a strong background in player development, leadership, and coaching to the Regent University Men’s Basketball program. A Virginia Beach native, Thomas began his basketball journey as a student-athlete at Kempsville High School, where his passion for the game developed into a desire to help the next generation of players.
Shortly after his playing career, Thomas transitioned into basketball training and youth development, working with players through training sessions and basketball camps at Kempsville Baptist Church. These experiences allowed him to develop his coaching philosophy while emphasizing fundamentals, confidence, discipline, and growth both on and off the court.
Thomas later joined the coaching staff at Ocean Lakes High School, serving as an assistant varsity basketball coach for four years under the guidance of the late Mario Mullen. During his time with the Dolphins, he gained valuable experience in player development, game preparation, scouting, practices, and building relationships with student-athletes.
Now as a Player Development Specialist with Regent University Men’s Basketball, Thomas continues his coaching journey at the collegiate level. He is passionate about helping student-athletes reach their full potential while contributing to a culture built around hard work, accountability, teamwork, and character. For Thomas, coaching goes beyond basketball—it’s about preparing young men to succeed in the classroom, on the court, and in life.
