Virginia Beach, VA - The Regent Royals Men's basketball team lost their season opener 78-60 to Carolina University. Buoyed by strong three-point shooting, the Royals went into the half tied at 34, but a Bruins 10 - 0 run early in the second would put the game out of reach.

Royal Standouts -
Junior Markell Riggins led the Royals with a team-high 10 points to go with two assists and two rebounds.
Junior Samir Brown gave the Royals a spark off the bench going to 2-3 from deep to finish with eight points on the night.

Team Notes -
The Royals will look to bounce back as they host Greensboro College on November 4th at Churchland High School.
