Virginia Beach, VAÂ - The Regent Royals Women's Volleyball team lost in straight sets to Carolina University in their season opener.
After the game, Head Coach Katelyn Totherow said, "Our team showed a lot of potential tonight. We are a young squad, and with some more time in the gym, I see us doing great things and competing at a high level this season."
Royal Standouts-
Freshman Liane Johnson stepped up in her collegiate debut to help lead the Royals offensive attack. She finished the night with a team-high eight assists and four kills.
Freshman Jordan Banister played a strong all-around game, finishing with four kills and coming up with some key defensive plays.
Bruins Standouts -
Kylie Kay led the Bruins' aggressive, offensive attack. She ended the night with a game-high eight kills and two aces.
Team Notes -
The Royals move to 0-1 on the season and will travel across town to face NCAA Division I Norfolk State University on September 7th for their next matchup.
