Portsmouth, VA- The Regent Royals men's basketball won 67-50 against Christendom College on Saturday, February 19th. The Royals dominated the front-court throughout the game, outscoring the Crusaders 36-16 in the paint while capitalizing on 16 second-chance points.
Royal standouts-
Senior Randolph "Tre" Holland put on an offensive show, mixing in drives and pull-up jumpers to finish with 15 points on 70% shooting from the field.Senior Kristopher Smith continued his sharpshooting season, knocking down 3-7 from deep to finish with 15 for the game. Kris ends the regular season with a 3ptFG% of .458, putting him in the top five for DI players in the NCCAA.
Games Notes-
Before the game, Regent Athletics honored men's basketball's first graduating class with a short ceremony. The team will graduate six seniors, including Randolph Holland, Kristopher Smith, Andrew Walston, Drew Aiken, Stanley Adjei, and Damon Hammack-Fitzgerald. Coach Botta said of the seniors, "This group of young men were the trailblazers that started our men's basketball program in 2018. They have consistently represented Regent University, and, most importantly, Jesus Christ extremely well throughout their athletic careers. I am happy that they were able to get this win on their senior night with family and friends there to cheer them on."
