Newport News, VA- The Regent Royals men's basketball team lost 85-67 to cross-town rival Newport News Apprentice School on Wednesday, February 2nd. The Royals battled from start to finish but couldn't overcome an incredible 1st half shooting effort from the Builders in which they went 9-15 from deep.
Royals Standouts-
Senior
Kristopher Smith gave the Royals a much needed scoring boost off the bench, going for a team-high 12 points while knocking down 2-5 from behind the arc.
Junior
Khalil Waleed was solid on both ends of the floor, playing hard nosed defense throughout the game while handling the point to finish with 10 points and three assists.
Game Notes-
The Royals are now 3-10 on the season and will host conference opponent Johnson & Wales University on Saturday, February 5th, in their next matchup.
