Harrisonburg, VA - The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VASID) announced the College Division All-State Women's Track & Field team on July 12, 2022, which included a Regent University student-athlete for the first time in program history. Graduate student Marelly Balentina was selected as the Women's Field Athlete of the Year while also being named First-Team All-State.

Marelly put together an incredible outdoor season, competing consistently at a high level in three throwing events; the discus, shot put, and javelin. She proved herself the team "MVP," leading the Royals in total points and accumulating nine 1st place finishes in six regular-season meets. To cap the season at the NCCAA Nationals, she was named an All-American after claiming the gold medal in the javelin toss with the 2nd best throw in NCCAA history at 46.27 meters.

On Marelly's All-State selection, Coach Guridy stated, " We are very excited for Marelly as our first-ever recipient of the VASID All-State Field Athlete of the Year. She has a determination that stands out among others and works hard to accomplish her goals.  Our team and coaching staff were blessed to work with her and are happy to see her earn this wonderful achievement!"
