Virginia Beach, VA - Regent Athletics has named Michael Rose the new head coach of the track & field and cross country programs. Coach Rose has a proven record of success as a NCAA DI athlete and a long-time coach, totaling over 25 years of experience.
On the new hire Director of Athletics, Micahel W. Allen said, "We are thrilled to welcome Michael Rose to our Royals family! His passion for teaching and mentoring our local Hampton Roads youth; add that to his experience, and he will elevate our track and cross-country programs here. I am excited to support him as we build a winning culture here at Regent University."
Coach Rose is originally from Portmore, Jamacia, where he cultivated his passion as a runner before coming to the U.S. to compete at the collegiate level. He began his college career at Southwestern Christian before transferring to Auburn University. Shortly after graduation, Rose took his first coaching position as an assistant coach with the Hampton Roads Christian Crusaders. Since then, he has held multiple head coach jobs, most recently at Tallwood High School. Rose is also heavily involved in as the Council Administator for Faith In Action Ministries Athletics & Recreation which teaches young athletes about Christian values through sports.
Coach Rose's vision is to bring out the potential in each student-athlete while competing at the collegiate level. Heading into his first season, Rose states, "My goal is to create a positive and competitive environment for student-athletes to perform with excellence and integrity."
