Norfolk, VA - Senior Day is awlays emotional for everyone involved, especially for the players and their families. On Saturday afternoon, the Regent Women's Soccer team honored their Senior
Jocelynne Lake (Virginia Beach, VA) and Graduate Student
Kelsey Goodson (Spotsylvania, VA) as they played one of thier final regular season games of the season Saturday afternoon against Patrick Henry College. The Royals were determined to send thier two departing players out on a winning note and they were able to do just that.
For most of the first half it was a back and forth game until Freshman
Olivia Charles (Spoysylvania, VA) ignited the Regent offense with 3 goals and an assist to go along with Sophomore
Avery Bravo's (Victorville, CA) goal, giving Regent the big lead at halftime, 4-0. The second half saw the Royals consistently trying to create scoring opportunities for both Lake and Goodson, but it was Freshman
Desiree Espinoza (Inglewood, CA) who was able to head a corner kick into the goal for Regent's 5th score of the game, which would be all they needed to earn the Senior Day win by a score of 5-0.
The win was a perfect way to send out Lake and Goodson, as a ceremony was held immediately folowing the game. However, their work is not finished as they will be back in action on Saturday, November 4th when they host Carolina University. Kick-off is scheduled for 5:00pm.
