Regent begins National Tournament against Grace College

Point Lookout, MO - The Regent University Women's Volleyball team's historic season continued on Wednesday afternoon as they stepped foot on the court at the College of the Ozarks to face the #2 seed Grace College from Indiana.  The stands were full of Royals faithful who made the trip to see history being made by a young team who has proven that they are among the best teams in the nation.  The Lancers would prove that they were an experienced team, but Regent also showed they belonged in this tournament,

The first set saw Grace take control coming away with the win 25-9.  However, the Royals found their footing in the second set to push the Lancers and force them to earn their points, but Regent would eventually fall 25-14.  The third set proved to be tough, but Sophomore Nicole Walston (Wake Forest, NC) proved why she was named the South Region Player of the Year by helping her team earn much needed points, while Freshman Erin Saunders (Danville, VA) showed why is is one of the best servers in the nation.  Unfortunately, it would not be enough as the Royals could not mount a comeback falling 25-12.

Regent was led by Walston who finished with 9 kills, while Saunders added 4 kills of her own.  Sophomore Makayla Daniels (Chesapeake, VA) finished the game with a team high 10 digs, followed by Freshman Ella Simone (El Paso, TX) who recorded 9 digs.  The Royals will be back in action on Thursday, November 30th as they face Mid-America Christian University at 11:15am and Baptist Bible College at 8:15pm.
