Lookout Mountain, GA – The Regent University Women's Basketball team traveled south to Georgia to compete in the Covenant Classic this weekend. The Royals would play two games on Friday and Saturday against Covenant College and LaGrange College
In the first game against the Scots, Regent faced a tough squad and would fall by a final score of 81-62. The Royals were led by Freshman Zandie Smith (Cayman Islands) who finished the game with 15 points and 10 rebounds. In addition, Senior Kali Murrell (Long Beach, CA) added 12 points, while Juniors Jabarria Brown (Paterson, NJ) and Desiree Cross (Woodbridge, VA) each finished with 11 points.
In Saturday's game against the Panthers, Regent faced another tough NCAA Division III school, but was able to compete and showed some bright spots on offense. The Royals were led by Brown who finished with a season high 25 points, to go along with her 8 rebounds and 4 steals. Kali Murrell also had a productive game, scoring 15 points, while Junior Courtney Rowley (Lusk, WY) finished with 10 points.
Regent will be back in action on Friday, December 8th when they travel tin Greenville, South Carolina to take on Bob Jones University. Tip-off s scheduled for 5:00pm.
