Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Royals offense comes alive in win over Trinity Washington

Norfolk, VA – After a solid tie last week down in North Carolina against a NCAA Division III team, the Regent Women's Soccer team welcomed another Division III program, Trinity Washington University, to Norfolk Christian on Saturday night.  The Royals would have their best offensive production of the season as they found the net numerous times.

The first half started off fast as Sophomore Marissa Crawley (Charlotte, NC) and Freshman Olivia Charles (Barboursville, WV) scored quick goals for the early lead, 2-0. Two minutes later, Charles would do it again to increase the advantage to three goals and then Freshman Ashli Perez (Virginia Beach, VA) received a pass from Junior Audrey Martiny (Guatemala City, Guatemala) to find the back of the net to make it 4-0. The scoring continued when Junior Margaret Young (Dinwiddie, VA) knocked in a pass from Freshman Gracie Madden (Ashland, KY) and at the 36th minute of the game, Freshman Desiree Espinoza (Inglewood, CA) sailed a shot past the keeper for Regent's 6th goal of the game, which was followed by a Freshman Rhyan Primmer (Stafford, VA) goal off of a corner kick by Freshman Laraine Sims (Brier, WA) and that is how the half ended, with the Royals leading 7-0.

Freshman Ayden Malloy (Laconia, NH) got things started in the second half after she converted a pass from Charles for the goal.  In the 63rd minute, Espinoza assisted on a goal by Freshman Sierra Smullen (Snow Hill, NC) and that was immediately followed by Simms, who scored her second goal of the game.  Regent did not let up as Junior Ohgosasse Osadiaye (Marion, MI) found the back of the net for goal number 11.  As the game was coming to an end, Madden would score two straight goals followed by a goal from Senior Jocelynne Lake (Virginia Beach, VA) to earn their third win of the season by a final score of 14-0.

The Royals were lead by Charles who finished with 2 goals and 3 assists, while Simms and Madden each recorded 2 goals and 1 assist.  As as team, they had 66 total shots and 9 corner kicks.  This would be the largest margin of victory in the history of the program.  Regent will be back in action on Wednesday, October 4th as they travel to Winston-Salem, NC to face Carolina University.  Kick-off is scheduled for 2:00pm.
