Virginia Beach, VA – On Wednesday evening, the Regent University Men's Soccer team traveled just a few miles down I-64 to face NCAA Division III and ODAC member Virginia Wesleyan University. The Royals were looking to get back in the win column but would unfortunately fall to their Marlin neighbors down the road, 3-0.
Virginia Wesleyan struck first, a few minutes into the game, to take the early lead, 1-0. It would stay that way until the Marlins were able to convert another shot into a score, increasing their advantage to two goals. While Regent would have some opportunities, they were unable to get on the board and at the half, trailed 2-0. The second half saw both teams trying to establish control, however Virginia Wesleyan found the net again, to increase their lead to 3-0. Unfortunately, the Royals were unable to mount a comeback and would fall to the Marlins by a final score of 3-0.
Regent will have the weekend off and return to action on Tuesday, September 12th when they host Saint Andrews University at Norfolk Christian. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00pm.
