Washington, DC – On Saturday afternoon, the Regent University Women's Volleyball team made the trip to our Nation's Capital for an afternoon match-up with NCAA DIII member Trinity Washington University. In the past few weeks, the Royals have found their footing and had not given up a set in their last three matches. They would continue that streak today as Regent brought another sweep, their fourth in row, back to the Beach (25-8, 25-16, 25-11), defeating the Tigers by a final score of 3-0.
The Royals controlled the tempo from the first serve all the way to the final point. They were led by Sophomore Erin Saunders (Danville, VA) who finished the match with 13 kills and 6 service aces. In addition, fellow Seniors Makayla Daniels (Chesapeake, VA) and Shaley Wertz (Kansas City, MO) dished out a combined 27 assists (17 and 10), while Freshman Madison Hardiman (Memphis, TN) led the team with 9 digs. As a team, Regent had a total of 31 kills, 18 aces, 32 assists and 24 digs.
The Royals will be back in action on Friday, October 18th when they host Christendom College on Community Day. First serve is scheduled for 7:00pm.
