Royals Host Virginia State On Senior Night

Norfolk, VA – On Saturday evening the Regent University Men's Soccer faced Virginia State University in a rematch of a close fought contest earlier in the season.  It was also Senior Night, as the Royals honored four outstanding student-athletes who were playing their last home game.  The game was similar to the first one as both teams were able to move the ball up and down the field, but unfortunately Regent would fall by a final score of 2-0.

Seniors Honored

John Morrison

Morrison, from Saint Inigoes, MD is currently a Captain for the Royals.  During his career at Regent, Morrison has appeared in 10 games, tallying 17 saves for a career goal to save average of 1.93.  In addition, he has an overall record of 3-1 with two of those wins coming by shutouts.  Off the field, John is a member of the National Criminal Justice Honors Society.  His favorite memory as a Royal is participating in Goalkeeper Training with Coach Hutchins during his Freshman year.  John will graduate this Spring with a degree in Professional Studies and Criminal Justice and hopes to begin a career in law enforcement.

Jonah Harvey

Harvey, from Virginia Beach, VA has appeared in 27 games during his career at Regent and has been a pivotal part of the Royals defense, helping them to four shutout wins.  His favorite memory as a Royal was Coach Okai's driving skills on away trips. Jonah will graduate with a degree in Business and is currently considering pursuing a Master's Degree at Regent.  If so, he hopes to return to the soccer program to complete his remaining years of eligibility.

Daniel Welsh

Welsh, from Chesapeake, VA has appeared in 32 games, while starting in 12 of them during his career at Regent.  As a Defender, Welsh has been a part of three shutout wins and 11 overall wins.  His favorite memory as a Royal was during his Sophomore year when the Freshman and transfers sang and danced in front of the team.  Daniel will graduate with a degree in Animation and hopes to pursue a career in 3D animation.

Joshua Moore.

Moore, from Damascus, MD has appeared in 37 games, while starting 34 of them during his career with Regent.  Although a Defender, Josh has often been seen attacking the offensive side of the field and scored his first collegiate goal this year on Sept. 4th against Mid-Atlantic Christian.  Overall, he has 7 career shots on goal and has logged over 2,200 minutes on the field.  During his career, Josh has been a 3-year Team Captain, while receiving the Men's Soccer Servant Leader award.  In addition, he is a member of the NCSA and SAAC.  His favorite memory as a Royal has been the team dinners at Applebee's and the long van rides home where Coach Sam would talk about everything from Soccer to girls.  Josh will graduate with a degree in Cybersecurity and plans to get a job, start a family, play more soccer and possibly become a bodybuilder.
