Norfolk, VA - A cross from Sophomore
Sierra Smullen (Snow Hill, MD) to Freshman
Jordana Foose (Chesterfield, VA) in the 67th minute resulted in the game sealing goal, as the Regent University Women's Soccer team defeated visiting Sweet Briar College by a final score of 1-0. Not only was this the first win of the season, but it also was the first collegiate coaching win for first year Head Coach Briley Fillenwarth. The Royals controlled the tempo of the game, by creating a number of scoring opportunities, while also shutting down any chances the Vixens had to find the net.
Goalkeepers, Sophomore
Kristen Miller (Peoria, AZ) and Senior
Oghosasse Osadiaye (Marion, MI) combined for the first shutout of the season, while the defense, as a group, continued to turn away Sweet Briar anytime they tried to mount an attack. As a team, Regent out shot the Vixens 16-5 and attempted five corner kicks, while holding Sweet Briar to zero. In addition, this was the Royals second win in a row over the Vixens.
