Virginia Beach, VA – After a three-game road stretch the Regent University Women's Soccer team was back at the friendly confines of the Sportsplex on Friday afternoon as they welcomed in fellow Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference member Salisbury University. This was another opportunity for the Royals to showcase their defense, but they would also work to push the ball on the offensive side of the field.
The first half saw the Regent defense, as they have done all season, push back the Seagull attack for 34 minutes. Their play helped Junior Kristen Miller (Peoria, AZ) turn away a number of Salisbury shots, and that allowed a scoring chance from Freshman Sarah Brownell (Virginia Beach, VA). However, the Seagulls were eventually able to breakthrough and get one past Miller to go into halftime leading 1-0. The Royals continued to defend in the second half, as Junior Rhyan Primmer (Stafford, VA), Sophomore Serenity Cortez (Fresno, CA), Freshman Lianne Edmiston (Dallas, OR) and Senior Marrissa Crawley (Charlotte, NC) controlled the area in front of the goal, but as the final horn sounded Regent would fall by a final score of 4-0.
The Royals will be back in action on Monday, October 13th when they host North Carolina Wesleyan University. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00pm.
