Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Regent Hosts NC Wesleyan Monday Night Under The Lights

Norfolk, VA – Monday night presented another opportunity for the Regent University Women's Soccer team to play in front of the home crowd, as they welcomed in USA South member North Carolina Wesleyan University.  The Royals have played a majority of their season on the road, so they would try to take advantage of playing back in the 757.  The Battling Bishops brought in an offense that had come alive in their last game, but Regent's defense was prepared for the challenge.

Freshman Sarah Brownell (Virginia Beach, VA) gave the Royals a scoring chance early in the first half and that was followed by another opportunity from Junior Anna Teague (Salisbury, NC), as she took the ball through the center of the defense to fire off a shot.  Unfortunately, NC Wesleyan created their own chances and at the half, the Royals trailed 3-0.  In the second half, newcomer Junior Bethany Pikkaart (Stafford, VA) came in the game and used her speed to attack the goal, while Sophomore Serenity Cortez (Fresno, CA) helped Regent's defense shut down a number of Battling Bishop runs.  However, as the final horn sounded, the Royals would fall by a final score of 5-0.

Regent will be back in action on Sunday, October 19th when they travel to Fredericksburg, VA to face Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference foe Mary Washington University.
