Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Regent Cruises To Sweep Over Sweet Briar

Norfolk, VA - With a few weeks remaining in the regular season, the Regent University Women's Volleyball team has recently had the opportunity to shuffle in players who have not seen a majority of the minutes.  One thing the Royals program has been known for is that on any given day, different players can step up and contribute in a game.  For the fans in attendance tonight and those watching online,, they saw this first hand, as a number of Regent players helped pace the Royals to a sweep over visiting Sweet Briar College.

The first set told the story of the match as Junior Erin Saunders (Danville, VA) served 18 straight points to give Regent their most dominate set win of the season, 25-1.  That allowed for Coach Katelyn Toterhow to shuffle her lineup to see who would take advantage of the opportunity to contribute.  First up would be Freshman Daily Davis (Bristow, VA) who started the second set off serving for the first nine points.  She would also begin to find her rhythm and set up a number of her teammates as Regent took a comfortable lead.  Two of those players who benefited from Davis's assists were fellow Seniors Brielle Peltonen (Virginia Beach, VA) and Eliana Winn (Albuquerque, NM).  Peltonen delivered some of her bests swings of the season, while Winn controlled the net with dominant kills.  Defensively, Winn recorded a number of blocks as the Royals won the set, 25-7.  Davis continued to dish out assists in the third set, while Winn grabbed a few and turned them into points.  In addition, Freshman Emma Kristiansen (Sparta, NJ), Sophomore Brooklynn Delane (Colonial Beach, VA) and Freshman Keira Anderson (Leland, NC) all took advantage of their opportunities, while Junior Reagan Holestin (Virginia Beach, VA) served out the last four points to earn the sweep 3-0 (25-8).

Winn finished with 10 kills, 5 service aces and 4 blocks as she had a near perfect hitting percentage of .909.  In addition, Davis dished out a total of 23 assists and Sophomore Madison Hardiman (Memphis, TN) finished with a team high 15 digs.

Regent will be back in action on Tuesday, October 21st when they host Mid-Atlantic Christian University.  First serve is scheduled for 6:00pm.
